Many of you know that there are some big changes coming soon. Toastmasters International has increased bi-yearly dues to $45, starting with this dues renewal period. Even with this increase, Toastmasters is still an affordable development option, costing about 25 cents a day.

Toastmasters has removed the Grace Period for clubs who do not get dues in by October 1. As of October 1, 2016 any club that does not have at least 8 paid members will be suspended. (The October 1 deadline should be a club goal, because it is required to earn Distinguished Club Point 10.) It is imperative to get all club dues in ahead of the October 1 deadline. Clubs who wait until the last minute may experience problems accessing Club Central at toastmasters.org. For this reason, I am asking all clubs to have their dues in by September 15.

If your club will have trouble meeting the eight-member minimum, please contact your Area or Division Director as soon as possible so they can work with you try and gain more members.

Don’t forget, the Smedley Award membership contest is currently underway. Clubs who add five new, dual, or reinstated members between August 1 and September 30 will receive a ribbon for the club banner and a certificate for 10% of your next order from Toastmasters.org. This is a good time for all clubs to hold membership contest and open houses to introduce Toastmasters to potential new members.
